New Light Rail Service To Sea-Tac Airport

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is now served by light rail service from downtown Seattle and points in between. Sound Transit's Link Light Rail service begins at Westlake Center in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel. Stops along the away in downtown Seattle include University Street, Pioneer Square, and the International District. The light rail line then passes through the SoDo District servicing Qwest Field, the Qwest Field Event Center, and Safeco Field.

Light rail service enters the Beacon Hill Transit Tunnel with a stop at Beacon Hill and then follows Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. southbound with stops at Mount Baker, Columbia City, Othello, and Rainier Beach. It then has a stop at the Tukwila International Boulevard Station before reaching Sea-Tac Airport. There are a total of eleven stops between downtown Seattle's Westlake Station and the airport. The trip from downtown in either direction costs $2.50 and the 15.6-mile one-way trip takes thirty-six minutes to complete. Light rail service is not affected by adverse weather or traffic conditions keeping the schedule reliable and making it a great way to get to the airport.

At Sea-Tac Airport, the recently completed light rail station is located near the northeast corner of the main airport parking garage, just west of the intersection of S. 176th Street and International Blvd (Highway 99). Several large hotels are also located near this intersection and the city of SeaTac is planning construction of a city center near the light rail station.
